How many graduates do you recruit?

We are looking for approximately 150 graduates per year from various disciplines. Similar numbers are likely to be required in future years.

What degrees are you looking for?

We employ graduates with the following degree disciplines; civil structural, civil water, mechanical, electrical and building services. We also recruit people with skills in transportation, hydrogeology, geotechnics, quantity surveying, environmental engineering, water resources, and social and economic development. What kind of people are you looking for?

Are there any specific requirements for applicants?

We require all applicants to have obtained or expect at least a 2:2 degree in a relevant qualification. Previous work experience would be beneficial but is not essential.

What package do you offer?

Mott MacDonald offers a competitive package in terms of a basic salary. In addition we offer a corporate profit-related bonus, contributory pension scheme and life insurance.

When would you want me to start?

We are flexible with start dates, but the majority of graduates start between July and October.

What hours would you expect me to work?

Standard hours are 37.5 hours per week. Starting and finishing times vary across the UK. You may be required to work different or additional hours as the job demands.

What is involved in the recruitment process?

Each person is required to complete an application form on-line. Interviews are held locally by the division/office graduate recruitment manager. In some cases you may be required to attend a second interview. Decisions are made promptly and we endeavour to contact all applicants at the earliest.

Do you accept applications from people who require a work permit?

We are interested in recruiting the best in the market place. If you are successful and need a work permit we will apply for this on your behalf.

What happens when I join you?

When you join you will be provided with a Group Induction Pack and also assigned a “buddy” who will be a colleague to assist you with the induction process in your office. Additionally graduates are assigned a Mentor who is there to assist you with all aspects of your development.

What training do you provide?

You will be encouraged to attend relevant training courses each year that will assist you with your development.

Can you help graduates with a BEng become chartered?

Any graduates who possess a BEng degree can either gain an IEng qualification or, if they would like to gain a CEng qualification, are encouraged and supported through the Technical Report Route for their respective engineering institution. This can be achieved in conjunction with the normal training scheme programme.

What accredited training schemes do you offer?

We have accredited training schemes with the ICE, IMechE, IEE, CIWEM, CIBSE, IStructE and RICS.

What opportunities are there to travel?

Mott MacDonald is an international consultancy and we have employees working in over 100 countries. As a graduate you are most likely to be based in the UK. International opportunities become more available once you have gained a number of years experience. However it is not unknown for graduates in their first year to be involved in international projects.

Is there a good social side to life at Mott MacDonald?

Most Mott MacDonald offices have a sports and social club organising activities from badminton to theatre trips. Our graduates also arrange various social events and participate in school and university events.
