Cambridge

I’m a graduate engineer in the Water Utilities Division located in Cambridge. Cambridge is one of the bigger offices, with several different divisions and people in 3 different buildings in the same road. The offices are located on Station Road, so the transport links by bus and train are pretty good, and this being Cambridge everyone else cycles! The office building I work in is classic 60’s architecture, which may or may not be to your taste, but it’s a very friendly office, with everyone sitting in bays and always ready to answer any questions you might have.

I’ve lived in Cambridge for the last 5 ½ years, 4 of those as a student and the rest working for Motts and I have no plans of moving away just yet! There are the obvious attractions of the colleges and the history but it’s also a town full of young professionals working in the high-tech industries so there are plenty of sports clubs, cinemas etc. It isn’t the cheapest place in the world to live but there are plenty of options for renting. The houses are pretty good and most of the graduates live within walking or cycling distance of the office.

The Cambridge office has a very active Sports and Social Club (Cambridge always wins the Mott MacDonald Sports Days!) and lots of people in the office play in Motts hockey, football, touch rugby teams amongst others. The size of the office means there are a large number of new graduates each year and plenty of opportunities for out-of-office socialising! I’m also part of the Office Christian Fellowship which meets fortnightly in a lunch hour, and spend lots of my out of work time teaching and having fun with the kids at my church in the centre of town.
