Norwich
I have been working in the Norwich office for just
over a year now and I feel very settled here. We are quite a small
office (about 40 people) compared to some of the other Motts
offices, which is nice because everybody knows everybody else and
there is a really good atmosphere. Everyone is very friendly and
quite prepared to go out of their way to give you a helping hand.
When I started I was initially working in the Joint Teams, which
involves working on a wide range of local highway improvement
schemes under our partnership with Norfolk County Council. As a
geography graduate (and not an engineer) I felt a bit out of my
depth here so, after discussions with my line managers, I have
gradually moved into the transport planning team where I am much
happier. The Norwich office is in a really great location; it’s only a ten minute walk to the main shopping centre so there’s plenty to do at lunchtime especially with the big new shopping mall that has opened recently. There is a series of lunchtime talks organised too, which are really useful to gain some extra CPD hours if you are working towards Chartership.
Outside of work, there is a really good office social life too, made even better by the fact that events are usually partially subsidised by the Sports and Social Fund. I’m on the Sports and Social Committee now so I get to help decide what we are going to spend the money on. So far this year we have been to a pub games night, a treasure hunt, paintballing, karting, canoeing, bowling, several meals out and all the way to Glasgow for the Group's annual Sports Day.
