I’ve always been interested in making a difference
in the community, which is why I was attracted to Mott MacDonald as
corporate responsibility (CR) is an integral part of the company’s
values. There are many opportunities to get involved in CR
initiatives both at a local level and internationally. I am a
science and engineering/construction ambassador, which involves
visiting schools/colleges and promoting civil engineering, through
careers and activity days. Last year I organised a bridge building
competition at a local school, where children aged 9 to 14 competed
to build the strongest bridge. Mott MacDonald also sponsored the
competition. While studying for a MEng degree in civil engineering at Portsmouth University I had a summer placement with Mott MacDonald and I worked on the A303 Stonehenge Scheme. I enjoyed the work and the friendly atmosphere in the office, so I came back the following summer. Again I had a good experience, so when I was offered a permanent job on completion of my degree, I said yes.
