Energy

Our energy generation business is involved with power generation on a variety of levels ranging from the more technical design supervision and technical assistance roles, through to the more legal and financial aspects like due diligence and the role of lender’s engineer on virtually all types of plant including CCGT, bio-mass, oil and gas, coal, wind and hydro. There is also a team of environmentalists within the division making sure that any adverse effects are addressed properly.

The breadth of our role in projects is reflected in the locations in which we work and the ability to travel overseas for short term assignments is essential. It pays to be flexible as situations can change very quickly with a high level of responsibility, for example I was recently asked if I was available to go to Nigeria for four weeks to perform Power Quality Tests on a new LNG station and was given just four weeks to prepare.

I can’t say that all of the work is sexy, but if you’re not afraid to try something new and even throw yourself in at the deep end from time to time, there are some great opportunities available.
