Maritime
The maritime division is mainly involved in coastal
engineering and port development. The workload is hugely varied so,
as part of a big company, there is an opportunity to gain a lot of
good experience in major projects in everything from environment
and planning to structures, ship simulation, numerical modelling,
hydraulic studies and geotechnics. As a graduate engineer in the division much of my work is office based with some site visits. The work I do changes from week to week from detailed design, structural assessment based on site visits, tender preparation and report writing. The projects typically involve coastal defences, new and existing ports and ferry and cruise terminals.
We have a variety of clients such as government agencies, oil companies and port operators in the UK, Europe, the Caribbean, the Middle East and Africa so every project has something new and different.
