Oil and gas

Douglas WoodsSince starting as a graduate in the oil and gas department at Mott MacDonald I have been involved in a variety of challenging and exciting projects worldwide. Our division is engaged in providing a spectrum of services in the oil and gas industry for clients such as large blue chip companies, local governments, private investors and funding agencies.

In particular, I began working with the techno economics unit on a number of interesting projects. Recently, I was part of a team that completed a gas masterplan and network study for the government of Macau. I was involved in developing a demand analysis for the gas volumes required to switch Macau from current energy sources to natural gas. In addition we completed a gas network model and advised the client of the gas infrastructure required to generate such a supply.

I have also been involved in the due diligence study of an LNG Terminal in North West Europe. The study provided an assessment of the constructability of the terminal and a review of the showstoppers that would prevent or delay the project’s gas on date.

In addition to the projects is the potential to work and travel overseas at Mott MacDonald. In particular, I had a great experience travelling with my project team to Hiroshima in Japan to witness the performance test of four gas compressors.

In contrast to the work side of things, Mott MacDonald also provides a great sports and social environment and since joining I have been part of the Mott MacDonald Croydon football team.
