Special services

Ruth SayersSpecials services comprises a multi-disciplinary team of civil, structural and materials engineers. A lot of the work that I’m involved in is specialist investigation and remediation of deteriorated structures, which includes undertaking site testing, advanced structural analysis and durability assessment for a wide range of different structure types. In addition, I have colleagues who are involved in projects which utilise our noise and vibration dynamic analysis skills, our experience of developing bespoke software and our expertise in high speed rail infrastructure.

We also have a strong emphasis on professional excellence and produce best practice guidance for industry, expert witness legal advice to a range of clients as well as specialist advice to other areas of Mott MacDonald. We aim to maintain our position at the forefront of engineering and undertake applied research and development studies - for example, in collaboration with a repair contractor, special services has developed a patented repair technique for the treatment of accelerated low water corrosion (ALWC).

As a materials engineer, the opportunity to work with civil and structural engineers is both interesting and challenging. We work on a wide range of projects and encounter unique problems which we aim to find innovative solutions to.
