Transport planning

William Chung relaxing in a restaurantIn transport planning, nothing ever stays the same. As a graduate I have been working mainly on Crossrail - an ambitious brand-new railway line that will run east to west across London. In this project alone my work has ranged from traffic engineering design, traffic modelling and transport impact assessment, to holding discussions with clients, local authorities, and other stakeholders who may be affected by this multi-billion-pound scheme. Tight and multiple deadlines are the norm, and tasks are often affected by last-minute developments so I am expected to work under pressure and be dynamic. All these are part of the challenge, and ultimately, job satisfaction to be gained.

Graduates within transport planning like myself are also given the chance to be involved in smaller projects, allowing us to gain the necessary financial and managerial skills that are also important for my career developments.

It is perhaps not surprising that, within a team that is ever expanding, opportunities for graduates are endless. To all the high-achievers out there: if you can rise to the challenge, Mott MacDonald is definitely the place to fulfil your potential.
